The ‘Olive Tree of Pollara’ may have a simple beauty and elegance but the breathtaking views are what guests really remember about this holiday home. Nestled on the foothills of Monte Dei Porri on the Italian island of Salina, L’Ulivo di Pollara is a peaceful retreat that would be perfect for couples or families, consisting as it does of two neighbouring buildings with an inviting courtyard between them. The owners authentically restored both buildings and ensured the interiors were kept minimal and with a rural feel, yet the striking local blue tile that is used extensively is a wonderful contrast to the clean white walls and exposed ceiling beams, and gives this holiday home a real Italian feel.

Distant views draw your eye out to sea while behind the villa majestic mountains rise up and provide shelter to the small village of Pollara. Serenity doesn’t come much better than this!

Casa San Gabriel – Truly Unwind in Umbria

When I think of Umbria in Italy, my Italian teacher would be impressed to know that I remember the word Ombra which means shadow as Umbria is nearly always in the shadow of its neighbour Tuscany in so many ways. Umbria also conjures up images of rolling hills awash with the bright yellow from sunflowers and laced with dense chestnut and olive groves and it is here on 3 acres of unspoilt land, just near the border of Umbria and Tuscany, where you can be at one with the Umbrian countryside.

Nestled into the hills of Umbria, just north of Perugia lies Casa San Gabriel.
